We have been getting our Grass Fed Beef from Charlottesville Heritage Breeds since 2018. Ed & Sally raise American Galloway outside of Philomath Oregon. They do not feed grain or use any unnecessary medications/antibiotics. They use their own hay or alfalfa from local farms to get through the winters. In short, they do exactly what we would do, if we only had the room.
Here is what Ai has to say about American Galloway – I agree 100%

Craving a truly exceptional beef experience? Let me introduce you to American Galloway grass-fed beef. These magnificent animals, with their distinctive shaggy coats, produce a beef that’s as unique as they are.
Here’s the pitch:
- Flavor Beyond Compare: American Galloway grass-fed beef boasts a rich, deep, and complex flavor profile. It’s a taste that reflects their natural diet of pasture grasses, offering a more intense and “beefy” experience than grain-fed beef. Imagine the savory notes of a perfectly aged steak, but with a cleaner, more natural taste.
- Naturally Lean and Healthy: Because they’re raised on grass, American Galloways produce leaner beef with less saturated fat than grain-fed cattle. This translates to a healthier option without compromising on flavor. You get the deliciousness of beef with the added benefit of a leaner protein source.
- Sustainably Raised on Pasture: American Galloway cattle thrive on pasture, grazing freely as nature intended. This not only contributes to the superior flavor and leanness of the beef, but it also supports sustainable farming practices that are better for the environment. It’s a choice you can feel good about.
- Exceptional Tenderness: While leaner, American Galloway grass-fed beef is surprisingly tender. The natural marbling within the muscle contributes to a melt-in-your-mouth texture that’s truly delightful. It’s a testament to the breed’s genetics and the natural way they’re raised.
- A Taste of Tradition: American Galloways are a heritage breed, known for their hardiness and adaptability. By choosing their beef, you’re not just enjoying a delicious meal; you’re also supporting the preservation of a breed with a rich history.
- Support Local and Sustainable: Often, American Galloway beef comes from smaller, family farms that prioritize sustainable and humane practices. By choosing this beef, you’re directly supporting these farmers and contributing to a more sustainable food system.
So, if you’re looking for a beef that delivers on flavor, health, sustainability, and a taste of tradition, discover American Galloway grass-fed beef. It’s a culinary experience you won’t soon forget.
